Kick-Off to September Suicide Prevention Month
August 23

The mission of this event is to kick off September, which marks both National Suicide Prevention Month and Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to remember the lives lost to suicide, honor the millions who have struggled with suicidal ideation, and acknowledge the individuals, families, and communities that have been impacted.
Now in its second year, this event returns with a focus on encouraging open dialogue about mental health, offering support, and promoting vital resources for those in need. Since many organizations already host events during September for Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, this gathering will also help raise awareness of those efforts and share information about resources available throughout the community.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the New Ulm Community Center, located at 600 N German St, New Ulm, MN 56073, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Attendees can expect participation from Veteran-supporting organizations, local community wellness providers, and other resource groups who will share information about their services. There will also be rock painting activities for children and families and food vendors available in the parking lot.
